Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Lumière Skin. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Lumière Skin mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Lumière (16 in the EU/EEA). By using the Service you represent that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

The Service

Lumière provides the following features:

  • AI Skin Analysis — AI-powered analysis of selfie photographs to assess skin health.
  • Personalised Skincare Routines — Custom AM/PM routines built around your profile.
  • Product Recommendations — Skincare products suited to your skin type and goals. Some recommendations may include affiliate links (see Affiliate Disclosure).
  • Progress Tracking — Historical skin data, photo journey, and weekly comparisons.
  • Skin Journal — A personal journal for documenting your skincare journey.
  • Weather-Based Alerts — Optional notifications adjusted to local weather and UV index.
  • Educational Content — Information about ingredients, routines, and best practices.

We reserve the right to modify, add, or discontinue features at any time with reasonable notice.

Medical Disclaimer

THIS IS IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

Lumière Skin is NOT a medical device. Our Service has not been evaluated or approved by the FDA, EMA, or any other medical regulatory authority.

AI skin analysis is for informational and educational purposes only. The analysis results, skin assessments, skin health scores, product recommendations, and any other outputs generated by our AI technology do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Lumière does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Our AI models are designed to identify common skin characteristics and cosmetic concerns. They are not designed or validated to detect, diagnose, or monitor medical skin conditions, diseases, or disorders.

Lumière is not a substitute for professional dermatological advice. If you have concerns about your skin health, notice unusual changes, experience persistent skin issues, or have any medical questions, please consult a qualified dermatologist or healthcare provider.

Pricing & Subscriptions

Free tier (today). Lumière Skin is fully free to download and use on iOS. The free tier includes tone-aware face scans calibrated for Fitzpatrick I–VI, PIH vs PIE differentiation, personalised AM and PM routines, the weekly Journey map, the community feed, Skin Twin matching, and weather-aware daily tips.

Lumière Pro. Pro is the optional paid tier that unlocks the longitudinal coaching layer: AI memory across every scan, proactive anomaly alerts on score drops and new findings, the deep-dive clinical report on every scan, advanced ingredient and product compatibility analysis, and priority access to new features.

Pricing. Pro is offered at:

  • Annual: $69 USD per year (≈ $5.75 / month equivalent) — saves 42% versus monthly billing. Auto- renews annually until cancelled.
  • Monthly: $9.99 USD per month. Auto-renews monthly until cancelled.

Prices are in USD; local taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax where applicable) are added at the point of purchase by Apple.

How billing works. All Lumière Pro subscriptions on iOS are processed through Apple In-App Purchase, in compliance with App Store Review Guidelines. Apple handles payment processing, tax collection, receipts, refunds, and the secure storage of your payment method. Lumière never sees, stores, or has access to your payment card details. Subscription receipts come from Apple, not Lumière.

No free trial. Lumière Pro launches without a free trial period. The free tier is the trial: if it works for your skin, the upgrade is real; if it doesn't, you owe nothing. We chose this structure deliberately to keep the free tier substantively useful (rather than gating it to push trial conversions) and to protect users from the "trial signed up, forgot to cancel, got charged" pattern common in skincare apps.

Auto-renewal & cancellation. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can cancel any subscription at any time from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on iOS. Apple's standard policy applies: cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period. After the period ends, your account reverts to the free tier — your data, history, scans, and routines remain intact.

Refunds. Refunds for Apple In-App Purchase subscriptions are processed by Apple at Apple's discretion under their published refund policy. Apple typically considers refund requests submitted within 14 days of the original charge for non-EU users, with longer windows for EU consumer protection laws. Submit refund requests at reportaproblem.apple.com. Lumière cannot directly issue refunds for App Store subscriptions but will assist with disputes via support@lumiere-skin.us.

Notice of changes. If we change Pro pricing, introduce new tiers, or modify subscription terms, existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days in advance via email and in the app. Price changes will not affect your current billing period and you can always cancel before the change takes effect. Existing free users will not be charged retroactively for previously-free features.

Affiliate Products

Product recommendations within Lumière may contain affiliate links to third-party retailers and brands.

  • We earn commissions on purchases made through these affiliate links.
  • The presence of affiliate links does not affect the prices you pay.
  • Affiliate relationships do not influence our AI's skin analysis or your skin health scores.
  • You are never required or obligated to purchase any product through our affiliate links.
  • Third-party purchases are subject to the respective retailer's terms.

User Content

You retain full ownership of all content you upload to Lumière, including photographs, journal entries, reviews, and other personal content ("User Content").

By uploading User Content to the Service, you grant Lumière a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to:

  • Process and analyse your photos using our AI systems for the purpose of providing skin analysis.
  • Store your content securely to provide the Service features.
  • Display your content back to you within the app.

This licence exists solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service. We will not use your User Content for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it publicly without your explicit consent.

Community Guidelines & Content Moderation

Lumière's community features (the Glow Feed, comments, and Skin Twin chat) are subject to our Community Guidelines, which form a binding part of these Terms.

We commit to reviewing every reported piece of content within 24 hours of submission. Confirmed violations result in content removal and, where appropriate, account warnings or termination.

Prohibited Conduct

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or defamatory.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or derive the source code of our AI models.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Service.
  • Interfere with or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service.
  • Impersonate any person or entity.
  • Use the Service to transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code.
  • Circumvent or disable security features.
  • Create multiple accounts for fraudulent purposes.

Violation of these terms may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.

Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service — including the Lumière brand name, logo, AI models, algorithms, UI designs, graphics, text, software, and documentation — are owned by Lumière Skin and protected by copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the Privacy Controls page in the app, or by visiting our delete account page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumière Skin and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration. You agree to first contact us at legal@lumiere-skin.us to attempt to resolve any dispute informally before initiating arbitration proceedings.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and notify you via the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
